Our educational institutes offer study programmes designed for international students. These programmes are conducted in English. Also other study programmes, courses or visit packages are possible to participate or arrange through English language or with the help of an interpreter. Here are examples of the programmes for international students in the field of Social & Health care.
1. Healthy ageing
International summer school in a scenic surrounding
- The course is designed for health professionals and students of elderly care and rehabilition services
- Students will be familiarised with the concept of Healthy Aging
- Students learn about maintaining health, assessing functional capacity and selecting suitable rehabilitation methods
- The program includes a personal exercise program and self-assessments during the course
- The course consists of teaching periods, visiting practical sides as well as personal guidance in designing wellbeing activities
- The international summer school is arranged in the scenic premises of Riveria Summer University
- The premises are located in Niittylahti (North Karelia, Finland), right beside beautiful Lake Pyhäselkä.
2. Public Health (MPH)
The quality master’s degree programme has been running since 1993
- The Master’s Degree Programme in Public Health (MPH) is offered by the Institute of Public Health and Clinical Nutrition, University of Eastern Finland.
- 2-year, 120 ECTS programme
- The programme has four spesific tracks:
- Globe, culture and health
- Epidemiology
- Public Health Nutrition
- Health Promotion in Nursing Science
- The objective of the programme is to educate top-level experts for different fields and positions in the public health related sectors.
- The graduates will be able to apply academic knowledge in both national and international contexts.
- Research training is amongst the key strengths of the programme.

3. Nursing

7. General Toxicology
Master’s degree programme in General Toxicology
- The programme is arranged by the University of Eastern Finland
- Toxicology is an applied science which has inputs from many scientific disciplines e.g. molecular biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology and epidemiology
- There is a great demand for experts in toxicology in our increasingly chemical world
- The programme in general toxicology provides its students with the basic scientific knowledge and professional skills to carry out human chemical risk assessment
